Delinquent Tax Sale and Surplus Sale

All bidders are responsible for their own research. It is recommended that you thoroughly research any delinquent tax sale property before you bid on the property. The County Recorder's office has maps available for purchase.
Any person, business, entity, or agent of such business or entity who currently owes property taxes on any real property owned by any person, business, entity, or agent of such business or entity at the time of registration is prohibited from bidding and participating in the tax sale, and shall not solicit another person, business, entity, or agent of such business or entity to bid in their stead for the property. This rule shall not apply to a person, business, entity, or agent of such business or entity who is bidding on their own property that is a tax sale property.
The Tax Sale Ordinance establishes methods, rules, and procedures for the 2025 Tax Sale. This list will be updated as needed.

Q. When is the Delinquent Tax Sale?
A. Utah law states the tax sale shall be conducted in May or June of the current year. By county ordinance the tax sale is scheduled for the third Thursday in May; therefore, The date for the Tax Sale is May 15th, 2025.

Q. What happens to the properties that do not sell at the delinquent tax sale?
A. The properties that do not sell at the delinquent tax sale are sold or struck to Duchesne County.
Q. Does Duchesne County offer a finance program for purchasing properties?
A. We do not offer a finance program for purchasing properties.
